Technology Application:

Using methanol as raw material, crude hydrogen (mainly CO2, H2, and trace CO, CH4) is produced by steam cracking process, and then purified by pressure swing adsorption technology to obtain hydrogen with purity meeting the requirements of users.
The raw methanol and raw desalted water are premixed at a certain ratio, pressurized by metering pump, preheated, gasified and superheated, and then enter the reactor. Under the action of catalyst, the reaction is carried out to generate crude hydrogen. After heat exchange, the heat is recovered, cooled, and then enter the pressure swing adsorption device for final purification.

In addition, the contradiction between adsorption and desorption in the industrial process of adsorption should also be considered. In general, the easier adsorption and more difficult desorption. As for ethylene, benzene, ethyl-benzene and other strong adsorbates, the adsorbents which adsorption ability is relatively weak such as activated carbon, silica gel is preferred, due to suitable adsorption capacity and easier desorption; and for N2, O2, CO and other weak adsorbate, should choose adsorbents which has relatively strong adsorption capacity, in order to make a greater adsorption capacity and high separation coefficient.

In addition, in the process of adsorption, the adsorption bed pressure is constantly changing, so the adsorbent should have enough strength and abrasion resistance. As for the common adsorbents in pressure swing and temperature swing adsorption, activated alumina belongs to a class solid with strong affinity for water, generally made from the thermal dehydration of trihydrate gibbsite and activation preparation, mainly used in drying gases.
